The Christina Rush Foundation was created in memory of our dear friend Chrissy Ruane Rush. Chrissy, who lived her entire life in Atlantic City, NJ, had her life cut short in May 2000 due to ovarian cancer. She left behind a husband, Joe, and two daughters, Katie age 4 and Erin age 2. Not only is she missed greatly by her family, but also by the many people whose lives she touched in her 38 years. Her family and friends would like to keep her positive and fighting spirit alive by assisting local women who are faced with the same challenging situation that Chrissy tackled daily for 2.5 years.

The Christina Rush Foundation, Inc. has been established to annually provide financial aid to local women from Atlantic and Cape May counties in NJ suffering from cancer. Although medical insurance covers some of the enormous hospital and physicians' fees, families are burdened by the additional financial pressure of the situation.

Once a year, The Girls and Joe hosted the Christina Rush Foundation 'Angel Night' to raise funds for the foundation.  Coming into our 2011 Angel Night, Chrissy's daughters along with Joe have taken over most of the responsibilities. They are doing a great job and guaranteeing the Foundation will continue for years to come.

This year's Angel Night, generously sponsored by Siracusa-Kaufmann Insurance Agency and D'Arcy Johnson Day Law Office for the 2nd year in a row, promises to be even more exciting and fun-filled as we gather at Maynard's Cafe in Margate, NJ on Saturday, September 10th, 2011 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The band Tidal Wave will once again entertain us as we dine, socialize, and honor Marge Scanny as this year's recipient of our 2011 Angel of the Year award. Marge is a breast cancer survivor as well as a truly dedicated advocate for others with cancer.  She is currently the manager of the Cancer Community Outreach at Shore Memorial Cancer Center and is also a volunteer for the American Cancer Society as the Cancer Action Network's State Lead Ambassador for New Jersey.  Whether as a volunteer or an employee, as a breast cancer survivor Marge personally connects with the patients and families with whom she comes in contact, by helping them through their emotional journey from the time of a cncer diagnosis to the time of recovery.

Proceeds from the Christina Rush Foundation's Angel Night will be forwarded to the South Jersey Cancer Fund, and will be used to help more women from Atlantic and Cape May Counties who are living with cancer.  To date, our local foundation has raised over $350,000 allowing us to provide financial assistance to Atlantic and Cape May County area women.  Thanks to all of you, our supporters!
